Residential Care
At Abbeywood House we pride ourselves in the exceptional residential care and facilities we offer all our residents.

As we grow older, maintaining independence can become more challenging. At Abbeywood House we have carefully designed our care home to offer comfortable, compassionate, and enriching living spaces. Our residential care home is committed to supporting our residents in pursuing their passions and interests, while also creating a welcoming and inclusive community.

Moving into a home doesn’t mean someone needs to leave their previous life behind. We support our residents to be as independent as possible, safe in the knowledge that our dedicated staff are there around-the-clock to offer support with everything from getting dressed in the morning, to providing personal care with dignity.
What is Residential Care?

Also referred to as personal care or assisted living, our residential care services are for people aged 65 and above who require support with day-to-day activities. This might include bathing, dressing, medication supervision, cooking, cleaning and mobility which can no longer be managed at home.
Many people also choose residential care because they no longer wish to live alone, or to shoulder the burden of maintaining their own home.
Residential care for older people is simply about peace of mind, and our care home can provide a place where they are able to flourish, make friends and explore new interests.

What Are The Benefits Of Residential Care?
The benefits of moving into a supportive care community are endless – from the provision of nutritious meals to knowing your vulnerable relative is safe and well looked after.
What’s more, Abbeywood House care home provides an impeccable living environment, meaning your loved one is enjoying their later years in a safe, warm and well maintained environment.
We understand how important it is for your loved one to feel like their life hasn't changed too much when they move in and our team are fully trained to ensure this transition is as seamless as possible and therefore stress free for everyone.
Enriching lives in Residential Care

In partnership with our residents and their relatives, we create a bespoke care plan to build a picture of not only their health and wellbeing needs, but also their emotional, social and spiritual needs.

We take the time to discover who they really are and what they loved doing before moving into residential care, so we can support them to live life to the full.

We tailor care and support to residents’ personal needs, so whether it’s something as simple as knowing they like their tea in a special cup, to helping someone to rekindle a much-loved past time; we are there every step of the way.

Our residents are free to spend their time how they choose, whether taking part in activities, relaxing in the garden or being pampered in our salon and therapies room. We have staff devoted to supporting our residents to enjoy engaging activities and experiences, which are truly meaningful to them.

At Abbeywood House our chef prepares a variety of delicious, home-cooked meals, with taste and nutrition at the heart of every dish. Residents can enjoy everything from roast dinners with all the trimmings to lighter bites, and freshly baked sweet treats each day for afternoon tea.

Why Choose Abbeywood House?

Choosing the right residential care home will depend somewhat on the needs and wishes of your loved one.

At Abbeywood House, we believe that each person should receive care as unique as they are. We understand that the reassurance of having your loved one surrounded by caring people who value them for who they are, is imperative.

We strive to ensure that each of our residents is supported to continue their routines, enjoy their day-to-day, and can spend time doing the things that they love.

At Abbeywood, our care home manager will arrange to meet you and your loved one to discuss a personalised care plan. This is tailored to the likes, dislikes and care needs of your loved one.
Location is another key factor to consider, and we are very lucky to be situated near stunning parks, local shops and some of Torbay's award winning beaches. We are able to offer the hustle and bustle of the local facilities as well as the quiet, comfort provided within our home.

Our communal spaces are comfortable, homely and well-maintained. We ensure our residents have the opportunity to enjoy the things they love through our proposed activity plan because we appreciate the need to surround them with the things they love in order to feel fulfilled and happy.
